Seaglass Jewelry-making by Toni-Ann Von Scheele
Reg Cost: $13.00 * Learn to make Seaglass necklaces using copper, brass
or silver wire wrapping. Wear your creation home or give as gifts.

Batik Painting on Silk by Judy Flores
Reg Cost: $65.00 * Learn the basics of applying melted wax on silk fabric
and applying dye in a series of steps to accomplish a multi-colored painting.
The 3-hour class provides materials to produce two 16 x 20 paintings.
The class provides individual attention and does not require previous
experience.
ON-GOING SAMPLER EXPERIENCE: Purchase a 10” silk “suncatcher” hoop
and experiment with batik wax and dye. $10 per hoop. Open to ages 5 to
adult.

Caricature Drawing by Ron Castro
Reg Cost: $13.00: * Basics of Carircature drawing. Learn which emphasizes
the particular features of the subject in a cartoon-like format. Basic
tips and lots of practice drawing.

Preparing and Weaving Pandanus by Traditional Master Floren Paulino (Sat)
Reg Cost: $13.00 ;* Learn how to select and process pandanus (A’gak)
leaves for weaving traditional Chamorro small baskets, coasters, fans,
birds, stars and other small items. Demonstrations of more advanced techniques.

Beginning Coconut Leaf Weaving by Gineva Tenorio (am) and Tiara San Nicolas
(pm)
Reg Cost: $13.00 * If you are taking any of the above classes for CEU
Credit, there is an additonal charge of $22.00.
Beginning students learn to make birds, stars, and katupat (woven rice
lunch bags), headbands, and other small items. Tips on how to select
your leaf and how to preserve the finished product.

Coconut Shell Ladles by Carlos Paulino and Albert Naburn
Reg Cost: $18.00 * This class combines several traditional skills, from
making cord/lashing from pagu fiber, to polishing the coconut shell,
carving and decorating the handle and then lashing the pieces together.

Coconut Candy Making by Francine Tenorio (am) and Ana McKinnon (pm)
Reg Cost: $13.00 * Learn how to husk and grate coconut, then to melt
the right amount of sugar and add the coconut at just the right time
to make perfect coconut candy. Take home the delicious results.

Mwarmwar Making TBA
Reg Cost: $20.00 * Traditional garlands for the head are essential for
island formal wear. Learn to make coconut leaf woven varieties. Materials

Basic Chamorro Dance & Adornment by Inetnon Gef
Pa'go Members
Reg Cost: $20.00; * This class teaches the basic movements and meanings
of Chamorro dance. Our island history as interpreted through "ancient
period" reconstructed dance will make this 3 hour session fun and
educational. Dress comfortably; (optional) bring a wrap.

Belembaotuyan Making by Luis Paulino
Reg Cost: $50.00 * Learn to to make an ancient Chamorro 1-string musical
percussion instrument, featuring a bow, a steel wire, and a resonating
gourd or coconut shell, and a thin bamboo striker.

Creating with Clay by Jeanette Kiffer
Reg. Cost : $11.00 * Participants will learn: On the first Saturday participants
will be shown techniques for hand building and constructing clay forms
and vessels. Students will construct their own pieces using a red stoneware
clay. Their creations will then be allowed to dry and bisque fired to
be picked up from the instructor at a later time.

Pagu Fiber Cord Making by Frank Naputi
Reg. Cost : $5.00 per student * Learn how to harvest and process fiber
from the Pagu (wild hibiscus) tree and twist it into cord. Found natural
objects will be supplied to make a pendant necklace. You may find your
own treasure or we will supply objects for pendants.

NASA - Bamboo Shrimp Trap making by Rose San Nicolas
Prepared strips of bamboo will supplied for assembly and weaving of one
miniature(10-12") shrimp trap. Bamboo is very hazardous to work
with-work gloves will be supplied to protect from cuts and splinters.
Students taking this class agree to hold Gef Pa'go harmless against possible
cuts and punctures.

Clay Flower by Yumiko and Ms. Faye
Reg. Cost: $26 * Learn to make delicate; lifelike flowers from durable
clay. Each student will make 2 plumerias and 1 hibiscus.
Additional clay provided for $5 per kit.

Chamorro Oven Baking by Lou & Eddie Crisostomo
Intro. Class: Reg. Cost: $13.00 * Learn how to bake local breads in the
traditional Spanish-style domed oven. Experience "firing up" the
wood-burning oven, preparing the bread, baking, then eating your creations.

Gyotaku - Fish Printing by Gail Rendall
Reg Cost: $65 * Learn the ancient art of traditional print making using
real fish. (1) Introduction to Gyotaku, using sumi ink. Participants
may bring white T-shirt if they want to print on that. (2) Advanced Gyotaku
- continuation including video of a very famous artist showing watercolor
gyotaku on different media. Participants try out variations. Participants
must take intro class first. Participants may bring white T-shirt if
they want to print on that.
Class Time: Class 1 (Intro): 9 am - 12 pm/Class 2 (Advance): 1 pm -
4 pm (classes held with minimum enrollment of 5)

Titiyas and Kelaguen making
Reg Cost: $10 * Learn the secrets of making delicious chicken kelaguin.
Learn to mix and pat corn titiyas and cook them over a grill. Enjoy the
finished product for your snack or lunch.

Wood Carving Miniature Canoe by Albert Naburn
Reg. Cost: $14 * Learn to shape and stain the wood, add the outrigger,
mast and sail, to create an island-style canoe.

Knife Making by Chamorro Crafters
Traditional metal forging techniques demonstrated throughtout the day.
If interest develops they may teach a class. Call Gef Pa'go for details.
Cultural Day Camps
$35 at time of registration for each one-week session, morning or afternoon,
to be paid at beginning of each week.
Available any day with 1-day advance notice. Morning Session: 9am to
12pm. Afternoon Session: 12 to 3pm.Activities: Coconut Leaf Weaving,
Thatching, Coconut Husking and Grating, Coconut Candy Making, Salt Making,
Titiyas Making, Talaya Throwing, Wood Carving, Rope Making, Songs and
Chants, Chamorro Dance-for groups of 20 or more. Gef Pa'go traditional
masters and trained staff will provide cultural experiences for camp
participants that are becoming rare in today's westernized society. This
unique camp provides learning experiences that will help today's youth
appreciate the knowledge and skills of bygone generations. The lessons
will be presented in a practical, daily-living style, using our respected
elders to pass on their skills. Chamorro values of respect and sharing
will be incorporated into daily lessons adjusted to each child's learning
level. Activities open to ages 5-adult. To register, contact the Gef

Rules
1. Morning Session takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants must not arrive at Gef Pa’go before 8:30 am or remain after 12:30 pm. Afternoon Session goes from 12 to 3 pm. Participants must not arrive before 11:30 or remain after 3:30 pm. In the event that the participant is not picked up on time, a fee of $8 per hour or fraction thereof will be charged in order to pay an employee to stay after their regular working hours.
2. Participants will be under the supervision of Gef Pa’go employees at all times. They are expected to follow the instructions given them to insure their safety during all activities. Disobedience of the employee’s instruction will be noted in writing; three serious misdemeanors is cause for expulsion.
3. All activities will take place at Gef Pa’go or the Inarajan Village historic area. Signature on this agreement means that the participant is allowed to take walking tours within the village and to participate in all regular activities. Any exceptions must be noted below and signed by both parties. Exceptions:

4. For week-long camps, the Friday activity will be the preparation and eating of Chamorro foods for lunch. Each participant will be given a note of what ingredient(s) to bring for each Friday. There will be no lunches during the other weekdays, although snack foods and drinks will be available for purchase during breaks.
Drinking water will be available at no charge. All other supplies costs are included in the tuition fees.
5. FEES: $35 at time of registration for each one-week session, morning or afternoon, to be paid at beginning of each week. Special groups may come from other camps or organizations to participate for one or more days at a charge of $13 each per day. Arrangements must be made at least one week in advance in order to give us preparation time for additions. There will be no refunds on the weekly rates after two days attendance.
